The Rite of Care

Empath Collective
Responsive Website & Mobile App | Social Impact UX

Intention of the Rite
To create a responsive website and a corresponding mobile app that translates empathy into tangible practice through UX design principles.

The Rite of Care was shaped as a response to a growing need for emotional intelligence in an increasingly digital world. This project focused on translating empathy—an unseen, deeply human quality—into a structured, accessible experience for children and their caregivers.

Guided by research, interviews, and usability studies, the design process centered on creating a supportive system that encourages emotional awareness, collaboration, and understanding. The resulting experience bridges feeling and form, offering parents and children a shared space for growth, connection, and care.

See the project in action.

  • The Problem - Empathy is the ability to recognize, respond to, and even “feel” the feelings of others. Users are concerned with their children’s emotional development and well-being. Studies show that the limited interactions children have with one another—as dependence on technology increases—are directly linked to a lack of empathy toward others.

  • The Solution - Empath Collective was created to help children ages 2-17 develop an awareness and understanding of empathy. These social skills and, thus, our feelings of empathy, motivate us towards social action and engagement. Simply put, when we understand one another, we have greater respect for one another, which leads to a more peaceful and collaborative society.

My background in UX design informs every branding project I take on. Through research, empathy mapping, and systems thinking, I’ve learned how to listen deeply—translating complex needs, feelings, and goals into clear, usable structures.

While my work now centers on visual identity and brand systems, this foundation allows me to design with intention, clarity, and longevity—ensuring that every visual decision serves both meaning and function.
